Pakistan Intends to Acquire 40 Chinese J-35 Stealth Fighter Jets

Pakistan is planning to acquire 40 J-35 stealth fighter jets from China to strengthen its air force capabilities. This deal represents China’s first export of fifth-generation fighter jets, highlighting the deepening military ties between the two countries.

The J-35, developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, is designed for air superiority missions. It is expected to enhance Pakistan’s defense technology and provide a significant boost to its aerial combat capabilities.

This acquisition could shift the military balance in South Asia, especially in light of Pakistan’s rivalry with India. The advanced stealth features of the J-35 may offer a technological edge in regional defense dynamics.

Pakistan intends to replace its aging fleet of F-16 and Mirage fighter jets with the J-35s. Reports suggest that Pakistani pilots have already begun training on related models in China, ensuring readiness for the new aircraft.

China and Pakistan have a long-standing military partnership, including joint projects like the JF-17 Thunder. This purchase further strengthens their defense collaboration and underscores China’s role in modernizing Pakistan’s military.
