The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and the Korean Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) recently held a media briefing on “Progress and Future Plans for Seed Potato Production through Aeroponics Technology.”
As the Daily Times reports, this is a joint project between KOPIA and PARC at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) in Islamabad. Pakistan and South Korea are collaborating on seed potato production, using aeroponics technology.
The project aims to achieve higher productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, promote farm-level processing, develop human resources, and also create significant job opportunities through an Aeroponic Potato Seed Production System.
At the event, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Chairman of PARC, expressed his gratitude to the Korean government and the KOPIA team for their efforts in establishing aeroponic technology for potato seed production at NARC Islamabad. Dr. Ali emphasized the global importance of potatoes as a crucial crop and the need for research initiatives to promote potato seed production in Pakistan.
