The attack was India’s retaliation for the Pakistani army’s secret operation some time earlier into Indian territory. A month later, the war ended through a UN-mandated ceasefire.
September 6, 1968: Swaziland Gains Independence Swaziland gained independence from Britain on September 6, 1968. This country located in southern Africa was a British colony for 60 years. In 2018, Swaziland’s King Mswati III decided to change the name of his country. The announcement of the name change coincided with celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Swaziland’s independence. The name Swaziland is often mistaken for Switzerland, so King Mswati III changed the name of the country to Eswatini, which means Swazi Land.
6 September 1991: Uni Soviet Mengakui Kemerdekaan Negara Baltik Pada 6 September 1991, Uni Soviet resmi mengakui kemerdekaan negara-negara Baltik, yaitu Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. Diketahui, negara-negara Baltik menjadi bagian dari Uni Soviet selama lebih dari 40 tahun. Kemerdekaan negara-negara tersebut pun diterima oleh PBB.
6 September 1997: Pemakaman Putri Diana Putri Diana dimakamkan di Althrop pada 6 September 1997. Ia meninggal dunia pada 31 Agustus 1997 usai mengalami kecelakaan mobil bersama sang kekasih, Dodi Al Fayed. Orang-orang memenuhi jalanan Kota London untuk menyampaikan penghormatan terakhir kepada Putri Diana. Tak hanya itu, proses pemakaman juga disiarkan secara langsung di sejumlah stasiun televisi dunia.
6 September 2000: Jenderal AH Nasution Meninggal Dunia Jenderal AH Nasution meninggal dunia pada 6 September 2020. AH Nasution adalah jenderal TNI AD yang berhasil lolos dan selamat dari peristiwa G30S PKI. Pemerintah Indonesia menganugerahkan AH Nasution pangkat kehormatan menjadi Jenderal Besar TNI. Hal tersebut tertuang dalam Keppres No 46/ABRI/1997 tanggal 30 September 1997.
