Reaching the Semifinals Won’t be Good Enough for Pakistan Captain Babar at India’s Cricket World Cup

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Reaching the semifinals of the upcoming Cricket World Cup won’t be good enough for Babar Azam. He’s aiming to win the 50-over trophy with Pakistan.

“The top-four is a small goal for us, we want to come out as winners,” the Pakistan captain told reporters in Lahore on Tuesday. The Pakistan team is preparing to fly out to India early Wednesday via Dubai after finally getting their visas late Monday night.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had expressed concerns to the International Cricket Council over the delays and complained about what it called “inequitable treatment.” The tense political relations between Pakistan and India of recent years resulted in no bilateral series between the two rivals for a decade and Babar is one of the 13 players who will be crossing the border for the first time.
